Small Steps School of Dance.

A dance school designed for children in a fun, creative and relaxed environment

Dance Season Schedule & Information

August 31st, 2020 - May 8th, 2021

Small Steps School of dance is known for its caring, creative, developmentally appropriate, stress free, fun and recreational dance classes. I am excited to begin our 21st Dance Season! -Ms. Betsy

Our Dance Season will start out with a Hybrid Plan. Each dance class will be broken up into 2 groups. Group A (The Caterpillar Group) and Group B (The Butterfly Group). The two groups will take turns dancing in person at the studio every other week. On their off week from dancing at the studio, the dancers will dance their dance class via Zoom. This plan is very flexible with room to adjust as needed. We are hopeful that we will be dancing with Full classes in the future or have the flexibility to hold all classes via Zoom if the need arises to close our physical doors for a period of time. It also lets parents choose. This hybrid allows families who may not yet feel comfortable having their child participate in person or families who don’t live locally a virtual option for dance classes for their child.

OPEN HOUSE
Our annual Open House on Sunday, August 23rd from 1-4 PM will be slightly different this year. In order to remain socially distanced we will be hosting families in 15 Minute Time Slots. So please call or text Ms. Betsy today to schedule your time slot:(207) 229-5138. Or you can e-mail your time slot request instead: smallstepsdance@yahoo.com. Come view the dance studio, meet Ms. Betsy and register for classes (if you haven’t already done so yet).

SOCIAL DISTANCING & SAFETY PROCEDURES
We want to provide the safest environment possible for our dancers and their families. We have taped off the dance studio floor into 6 feet squares. Each dancer will be assigned a square to dance in for their dance class. Younger classes will have individual name tags (with an individualized animal sticker for non-readers) that will be taped to the floor in the center of their dancing square. This will help focus younger dancers and make social distancing easier to follow. We are requiring everyone over 2 years old who enters our building to be wearing a mask. Once dancers are on their dancing square they will have the option of removing their mask to dance. We are asking that only one adult accompany your dancer to dance class at a time in order to eliminate a crowd in our waiting area. All toys have been removed from our playroom to avoid spreading germs. We have placed X’s on the shoe shelves (for dancers street shoes to go). We have also spaced the chairs in the waiting room 6 feet apart for safety as well. Ms. Betsy has allowed 15 minutes between groups for cleaning purposes. Older dancers who dance multiple 30 minute classes back to back are considered one group. A video will be shared soon about what to expect at dance class this Fall (Ms. Betsy has her daughters acting as the student examples).
