Small Steps School of dance is known for its caring, creative, developmentally appropriate, stress-free, fun, and recreational dance classes. We help children fall in love with DANCE!

DANCE SEASON OVERVIEW:
Dance Classes meet once a week and we follow the Scarborough School Department for Holidays and Vacation Days…with the
exception of most Monday Holidays, where we often DO have dance classes.
More specific information will be in the Monthly Newsletters handed out in class and emailed.
Two Snow Days are built into our schedule. If more than Two Snow Days are used there will be a make up class offered.
The Dance Season ends on May 10th, 2025 at our annual Dance Recital.
TUITION:
Tuition is broken into 9 even monthly payments: (September through May) and is due on your child’s First dance class of each month.
30 Minute Class = $55 per dancer per month
45 Minute Class = $60 per dancer per month
60 Minutes of Classes (Two 30 Minute Classes) = $65 per dancer per month
1 ½ Hours of Classes (Three 30 Minute Classes) = $70 per dancer per month
Tuition can be paid via cash, check or PayPal. Some families like to use our automatic payment plan via PayPal which will be made available at the end of August / beginning of September. An email will be sent out with details on how to begin that process at that time. A one time $25 registration fee per dancer is due at the time of registration.
ATTIRE:
Dancers may wear any style and colors they choose in regard to dance wear. Leotards, Dance Dresses, Skirts, Tutus, Leggings, Shorts, T-shirts and Tank Tops. Please NO JEANS! Tights are optional.
DANCE SHOES:
Children will need PINK BALLET SHOES (Girls) OR BLACK BALLET SHOES (Boys) for all Ballet, Lyrical and Creative Movement Classes (including the Monday 4:15 combo class). BLACK JAZZ SHOES for all Jazz & Hip Hop Classes (not including the Monday 4:15 class). BLACK TAP SHOES for all Tap Classes.

my daughters. It’s about a 35 minute drive from the dance studio. Check their hours on their website before going.

Dance Shoes can often also be found locally at Walmart & Target for Children’s Sizes. I have heard that Lots for Tots consignment

Dance Shoes often run differently than street shoes and vary from brand to brand. We have a hand-me-down bin at the studio with used dance shoes as well. You may be able to find a pair at our Open House, Saturday, August 17th from 1-4 PM.
DANCE RECITAL AND COSTUMES:
We will have our annual Dance Recital on May 10th, 2025 at Eastpoint Christian Church (AKA “The Point”) in South Portland Maine.
Participation in the Dance Recital is not mandatory but often the highlight of the dancer and his/her family’s dance season.
Each dancer participating in the Dance Recital will need to purchase a Dance Costume. Dance Costumes are around $75 each, which I order in November to ensure that they arrive in time for the Dance Recital and with wiggle room to make a size exchange if necessary.
Each class you sign your dancer up for will have its own dance performance and costume in the Dance Recital.
Combination classes such as “Tap & Ballet” will have ONE Routine and ONE Costume (I choose either Tap or Ballet for the class) in
the Dance Recital. Costume Payments are DUE IN FULL ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15th. 2024. You are welcome to make smaller
payments toward your dancer’s costume(s) during the months of September and October.

Come see us in person at our annual Open House, Saturday, August 17th from 1-4 pm. Meet Ms. Betsy and view the dance studio. Dance lesson demos, giveaways and light refreshments.
We’ll also have our PINK TENT at Scarborough SummerFest on Friday, August 16th. Free LED light up balloons for all children.
